2. POSITION OF VACANCY :-
Applications in the prescribed form are invited from among the Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste and Socially & Educationallly Backward Classes(S.E.B.C.) candidates only for recruitment to 237 posts of Assistant Surgeons in Class-II(Group B) of Orissa Medical & Health Services in the pay scale of Rs. 6500-200-10,500/-. with usual dearness allowances as may be sanctioned by the State Government from time to time. The posts are temporary and likely to be made permanent.

(a) 3 Posts are reserved for Physically Handicapped(Orthopaedically Handicapped) candidates who are capable of rendering service to the public, 3 posts are reserved for Ex-servicemen and 2 posts for Sports persons in respect of S.T. & S.C. candidates. 1 post is reserved for P.H.(Orthopaedically Handicapped) candidates who are capable of rendering service to the public and one post is reserved for Ex-serviceman in respect of Socially & Educationally Backward Classes(S.E.B.C.)
candidates. Candidates belonging to P.H.(Ortho.) Ex-servicemen and Sports persons shall be adjusted against the categories to which they belong to.
(b) In the event of non-availability or availability of insufficient number of eligible Women candidates belonging to any particular community, the vacancies or the remaining vacancies will be filled up by Male candidates of that community
(c) The number of vacancies to be filled up on the basis of this recruitment is subject to change by Government without notice, depending upon the exigencies of public service at the discretion of the Government.
(d) If after holding this recruitment, candidates belonging to the S.T., S.C. & S.E.B.C. are still not available or if the number of such candidates is less than the number of reserved vacancies, the vacancies which remain un-filled, shall be filled by general-un-reserved candidates in accordance with rules.
(e) S.E.B.C.(Male) candidates may also apply for this recruitment. Their cases will be considered if suitable S.E.B.C.(Women) candidates are not available.
AGE :- A candidate must be under 32 years and over 21 years of age on the 1st August,2003. The upper age limit is relaxable by three years for candidates belonging to S.E.B.C. by five years for candidates belonging to the categories of S.T/S.C. Women and eligible Ex-Servicemen and ten years for P.H. candidates.
Provided that a person who comes under more than one category mentioned above, shall be eligible for only one benefit of upper age limit relaxation which shall be considered most beneficial to him/her.
In case of candidates serving under the State Government, the period of past service rendered under the State Government by the last date of receipt of applications shall be added to the age(relaxed) limit for entry into Government Service.
QUALIFICATION :
A CANDIDATE MUST
(i) be a Bachelor in Medicine and Bachelor in Surgery(M.B.B.S.) from any recognised University in the Indian Union or possess equivalent qualification or be a holder of a registerable medical qualification from a recognised Medical College in United Kingdom and
(ii) after passing the final M.B.B.S. Examination from any recognised University where M.B.B.S. Course is of four & half years duration has completed successfully Housemanship for atleast one year, but if a candidate has passed the Final M.B.B.S. Examination of five years course from any other recognised University where there is no obligatory rotating Housemanship prior to award of the M.B.B.S. Degree, he\she must have completed successfully Housemanship for atleast six months on or before the last date for receipt of applications for the above post.
(iii) A candidate before appointment will have to register himself\herself under the Orissa Medical Registration Act, 1961, if not already so registered.
